Draft Beer Calculations & Conversions

A collection of free, printable, and shareable calculators and reference tools for draft beer professionals, bar owners, brewers, and enthusiasts. Convert units, plan parties, name your taproom, or find the perfect food pairing — all in one place.

Why these tools exist

Not every beer calculation needs a full-blown draft system calculator. Sometimes you just need to convert PSI to bar for imported equipment, figure out how many ounces are in a growler, or check what food pairs with a Belgian Tripel. These quick-reference tools cover the common day-to-day conversions and fun facts that don't deserve a separate page — but are still handy to have bookmarked.

Frequently Asked Questions

What PSI should I set my CO2 regulator to for draft beer?
Most draft beers at 36–38°F need 10–14 PSI of pure CO2. Use the carbonation calculator on our tools page for your exact beer style and temperature. For imported equipment that uses Bar instead of PSI, use the PSI ↔ Bar converter above — 12 PSI equals approximately 0.83 Bar.
How many pints are in a standard keg?
A half-barrel keg (1/2 BBL, 15.5 gallons) holds 124 16-oz pints or 165 12-oz servings. A sixtel keg (1/6 BBL, 5.16 gallons) holds 41 pints or 55 12-oz servings. Use the ounces-to-pints converter to calculate any vessel size.
What temperature should I serve IPA?
IPAs are best served at 45–50°F (7–10°C), sometimes called "cellar temperature." At this range, hop aromatics are more pronounced than at colder serving temperatures. Over-chilling an IPA mutes the hop character significantly. Use the temperature converter to dial in your serving temp.
What food goes best with a Belgian Tripel?
Belgian Tripels pair beautifully with steamed mussels, roast pork, scallops, aged Gouda, and spiced chicken. The high carbonation and fruity esters cut through rich creamy sauces. Check the Beer & Food Pairing Guide for 40+ beer styles with curated food, cheese, and glassware recommendations.
Can I use the bar name generator for my brewery?
Yes — the name generator includes templates for breweries, taprooms, dive bars, sports bars, Irish pubs, German bierhalls, and rooftop bars. Select your vibe and location, then generate as many rounds of 10 names as you want. Each name is unique on every generate.
How much beer is in a bathtub?
A standard bathtub holds about 90 gallons of beer — which is 720 pints, or roughly 5.8 half-barrel kegs. The "How Many Pints?" calculator includes bathtubs, hot tubs, school buses, Olympic pools, and a custom volume option for any container you can imagine.
