Powdered Alkaline Beer Line Cleaner for Commercial Draft Systems
Powdered beer line cleaner is the economical choice for high-volume cleaning operations. Mix on-site to your required concentration, use what you need, and store the rest — powder has a significantly longer shelf life than liquid concentrate and costs less per cleaning cycle at scale.
How Powdered Cleaner Works
Powdered beer line cleaners are alkaline (caustic) formulas that dissolve organic deposits — yeast, protein, hop resins, and beer stone — from the inner walls of beer lines, faucets, and couplers. The alkaline chemistry breaks down the biological buildup that causes off-flavors and bacterial contamination in draft systems.
Powder vs. Liquid Concentrate — Which Should You Use?
- Powder: longer shelf life, lower cost per use at volume, mixes easily in warm water; ideal for high-volume operations, distributors, and line cleaning services
- Liquid concentrate: also requires dilution before use; convenient for operators who prefer a liquid format; similar cleaning performance when mixed correctly
- Both require mixing to the correct dilution ratio — the choice comes down to storage preference and volume
Available Formats
- Bulk containers — for line cleaning services, distributors, and high-volume operations; lowest cost per use and longest shelf life
Mixing & Use
- Follow manufacturer dilution ratio — typically 1–2 oz per gallon of warm water
- Use warm water (100–110°F) to improve powder dissolution and cleaning effectiveness
- Minimum contact time: 15–20 minutes; recirculating pump recommended for best results
- Flush thoroughly with clean water until lines run clear before returning to service
The Brewers Association recommends cleaning beer lines every two weeks. Pair with faucet brushes and an electric recirculating pump for a complete BA-compliant cleaning program.
