Mechanical Cleaning Brushes for Draft Beer Faucets, Lines & Couplers
Chemical cleaners dissolve organic buildup — but brushes do the mechanical work that chemicals can't. Proper draft system maintenance requires both. The Brewers Association recommends a full faucet disassembly and brush cleaning every two weeks, and line brushes are essential for scrubbing the inner bore of beer lines during deep cleans.
Brush Types
- Faucet brushes — sized to reach inside the faucet body and clean the bore, spout, and valve seat after disassembly; removes yeast, protein, and beer stone that soaking alone won't clear
- Coupler brushes — clean the probe and body of keg couplers where beer contacts metal; critical for preventing cross-contamination between kegs
- Beer line brushes — long flexible brushes for scrubbing the inner wall of beer lines during periodic deep cleans; use in addition to chemical line cleaning
Cleaning Schedule (BA Guidelines)
- Every 2 weeks: full chemical line cleaning with BLC or equivalent; faucet disassembly and brush cleaning
- Every keg change: wipe down coupler exterior; inspect faucet for buildup
- Every 3 months: deep clean with line brushes; inspect all gaskets and seals
Use With
Pair brushes with BLC beer line cleaner and cleaning equipment for a complete maintenance program that meets BA draught quality standards.
