Regulator FAQ
Do I need a primary and a secondary regulator?
A primary regulator connects to the CO2 tank and sets overall system pressure. A secondary regulator gives you independent pressure control per keg or per line, which matters once you're pouring beers with different carbonation levels off the same tank. A single-keg direct draw setup usually only needs a primary; multi-keg systems benefit from secondaries.
CO2, nitrogen, or mixed gas — which regulator do I need?
Standard CO2 regulators (CGA-320 inlet) handle most draft beer. Nitrogen and mixed gas (beer gas) regulators use a different inlet fitting (CGA-580) and are needed for nitro stouts or long draw systems that use a nitrogen/CO2 blend to avoid over-carbonating beer at higher line pressures.
