Description
Draftec Red Dye Acid Beer Line Cleaner — 32 oz
Red Dye Acid Cleaner removes what alkaline cleaners can't: beerstone and mineral deposits that build up inside draft lines over time. If your lines look cloudy or beer tastes off despite regular alkaline cleaning, an acid cycle is what's needed. The red dye confirms the cleaner has reached every line and been fully flushed.
When to Use Acid Cleaner
Use about every three months as part of a complete line cleaning program — alternating with your regular alkaline cleaner (Draftec Blue Dye):
- Weekly: Blue Dye alkaline cleaner — removes organic buildup (yeast, bacteria, mold)
- Every three months: Red Dye acid cleaner — removes mineral deposits and beerstone
This two-step rotation is the standard professional line cleaning protocol.
Why Red Dye
- Visual confirmation — red color shows cleaner is flowing through every line
- Removes beerstone — the mineral scale that alkaline cleaners leave behind
- Restores line clarity — breaks down calcium and mineral buildup
Industry Standard
Draftec Red is an acid line cleaner — the chemical type the Brewers Association's Draught Beer Quality Manual calls for periodically to strip beerstone and mineral scale that alkaline cleaning alone can't touch. It's a periodic cycle, not a weekly one — the manual calls for it about every three months alongside your regular alkaline cleaning.
