Use as directed. Draftec Beer Line Cleaner will clean extremely soiled draft beer line. Draftec is formulated to remove stubborn bio-film deposits. As recommended by the Brewers Association (BA) draught beer quality manual:
For normal conditions/well maintained lines, use 7 oz. per gallon of water (2% Caustic). For stubborn/neglected lines, use 11 oz. per gallon of water (3% Caustic). For more detailed instructions, please contact sales representatives.
DRAFT LINE CLEANING PROCEDURE
- Remove the beer faucets for hand cleaning parts and gasket inspection.
- Push the beer with water out of draft lines. Leave the lines packed with water. Next, fill the cleaning solution circulating or holding vessel with water.
- In gallons, calculate the liquid volume the draft line system holds. This includes the liquid volume in the beer lines as well as the liquid volume in the cleaning solution holding vessel. Example: (ten feet of standard 3/8" ID beer line holds 0.0057 gallons) plus the liquid volume in the solution holding vessel.
- Wear proper eye and hand protection (Safety glasses and rubber gloves).
- Accurately measure and add to the water in the cleaning solution holding vessel the calculated amount of concentrated "Dratec" to use based on the liquid volume the draft line cleaning system holds and soil conditions of the beer lines.
- Safety Note: Add Draftec line cleaner to water, never the reverse.
- Thoroughly mix the contents of the cleaning solution holding vessel.
- Pump the contents of the cleaning solution holding vessel into the beer lines.
- With circulation line cleaning, pump from and return to the cleaning solution holding vessel. The velocity should be 2 gallons/minutes.
- With static line cleaning, make sure all the water packed in the lines from pushing out the beer is displaced with the Dratec cleaning solution.
- Contact time for the cleaning solution to effectively clean the beer lines should be a minimum of 15 to 20 minutes.
- When cleaning solution contact time is finished, if desired, push proper sized sponge through beer lines before flushing the cleaning solution out of the beer lines with clean water to drain. If a sponge is not used, just push the cleaning solution out of the beer lines with clean water to the drain.
- Flush with water until all traces of the cleaning solution are removed from beer lines. Use pH strips or a pH meter to help determine neutrality of the flush water to the drain.
